I know you guys know you need to eat healthy to lose weight. You know what to do.
And I am sure you guys understand that working out burns calories and that also assists in weight loss. Right?
But there’s ONE THING stopping you.
ONE THING that people get wrong, constantly. I see it often.
What is it?
TRYING TO GO AT IT ALONE
Now hear me out.
This is literally the up and down roller coaster I even used to put MYSELF through. And I’m not the only one.
EVERY. SINGLE. PERSON in my ROCKIN’ BODY Society ended up there because they were sick and tired of killing their healthy journey for a little bit, then falling off…then beating themselves up, feeling discouraged like they’ll never reach their goal.
Then, once they pick themselves back up out of that dark hole and scratch their way to the surface, they jump on and try again…only to lose it a few weeks later.
WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN??
Well, it has to do with the PEOPLE you are surrounded by. That’s right!
I know, this may be a bit controversial. I’m not knocking your friends. But I’ve spent years trying to get inside people’s brains to figure out WHY it is they are falling off of their journey and here’s what I found out.
It’s NOT YOU.
You are not incapable of losing weight. You’re not incapable of loving the skin you’re in. You ARE NOT incapable of being successful and reaching your goals!!!
You ABSOLUTELY CAN DO IT!!
That should help you breathe a sigh of relief, right??
There’s only that ONE THING that’s gotta fall into place for all the other stuff to just…click.
Have you ever heard that quote up there? It’s SO TRUE.
We really are the average of the five people we spend the most time with.
How does that relate to your fitness journey?
Well, think of it this way. Let’s say you decide to start eating better, you have a goal in mind and you’re going to work out also. But no one is doing it with you. And that’s ok, you think, you can totally do this alone.
You start, you’re super motivated. You lose a few pounds the first week even!!
But then your friends want you to go out with them, and this leads you to a restaurant with not so healthy choices. Do you know how much WILLPOWER you have to have to resist temptation when
1. Your friends aren’t resisting temptation.
2. They quite possibly are urging you to ‘just eat the pizza, it’s just ONE MEAL!’
3. They are even knocking you for the choices you are making??? (YES. This happens. Something about someone feeling convicted by YOU doing a great thing for yourself, and bam, their guilt over not doing it as well makes them try to bring YOU down so that they can feel better. It’s dumb. But it happens.)
It’s incredible how much those around us influence our thoughts, decisions and actions!
Now it’s UP TO US as to whether they are going to be positive influences…or negative.
So now, you see. It’s ONE THING derailing you.
BUT HOW CAN YOU FIX IT??
SURROUND YOURSELF WITH LIKE-MINDED PEOPLE, THAT’S HOW.
I can’t even tell you once I had workout friends, how much more MOTIVATED I was, how much more ENTHUSIASTIC I was and how much more CONSISTENT I became.
I was no longer fighting against the negative habits of my life and trying to resist them, although they kept slapping me in the face!
I was building NEW HEALTHY HABITS because my workout friends brought them out of me!
I wanted to go workout because I knew THEY were counting on me. And knowing they were working out too made it FUN. (I personally joined an online workout group, but even a group in person would deliver the SAME results!)
We would have competitions-not just with ourselves, but with the group as well.
We would LIFT EACH OTHER UP when one person was feeling like they were struggling.
We would dive head first into helping each other answer questions about eating healthy…
We would SHARE the experience that we had and HELP the people that needed it!
It’s why Crossfit is so popular. Your box becomes your TRIBE.
The same for Group Fitness classes at the gym. You make FRIENDS with the ladies in there and LOOK FORWARD to seeing each other!
And it’s why online communities like the ROCKIN’ BODY Society are SO MOTIVATING and have such great success of it’s members.
Because we are there for each other.
